NEWBORN CONSULTATIONS

Our boutique newborn session experience begins with a consultation at the studio, which includes a tour of the space and props, as well as a discussion with the expecting parents. During this consultation, we cover everything that occurs during a session, including stylistic choices and themes, concerns you may have, and pricing structures. I will also make sure that you receive a prep packet so that you know exactly what to expect from the session. At this time, when we decide to go forward with the session, we schedule for Baby’s due date (just so we have an estimated placeholder) and the creative fee of $200 is due.

Please understand, this consultation is very important for all newborn clients, as it is when we begin our plan for your newborn’s one-of-a-kind art. I am happy to do virtual consultations, should coming to the studio be difficult or prove unsafe.

Additionally, being attached to a florist, we have the unique ability to use the freshest flowers and plants within your baby’s session. With this same floral arrangement, we can also create images to seamlessly edit the child into as they grow. This allows for you to have a gorgeous wall display of perfectly coordinated images.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER
THE CONSULTATION?

Once a client’s adorable little squish has arrived, I get a text, email, or call letting me know the name, weight, any health issues, and if anything happened during delivery. This information lets me plan the safest and best ways to pose and photograph baby. From there, we schedule a date when baby is between 5 and 10 days old. If either parent should want to go to a salon for hairstyling or makeup or have a makeup artist come to the studio, I would be happy to arrange it where there is availability.

On the day of the session, parents spend some time with baby at home in the morning, playing and interacting with baby so that we tire her out. When parents arrive, baby is fed and burped. Now, we can do one of two things. If parents have arrived ready for pictures, we will start with family pictures. If parents choose to get ready at the studio (with or without a makeup artist or stylist), I will take baby and start the session while parents relax and get themselves ready for pictures. At the end of the session, I will take the family pictures.

Within 1 week, clients receive soft-proofs of the session. Soft-proofs mean that these will NOT be edited photos. Within the album, I will provide 3-5 fully edited photos to give you an idea of what the photo and baby will look like with editing. It is now up to the parents to make the difficult decision of how many photos to choose and which ones. Once this is accomplished, it will take up to 6 weeks to receive the album. During that time, however, I will do sneak peeks of photos on social media if allowed by the parents.

Then, at last, it’s gallery time! All the pictures you ordered will be delivered to you in a downloadable gallery. Any physical order will be sent or hand-delivered to you.
